GigaSplit

[screen shot] Split up files - GigaSplit's main feature is to split up large files into smaller pieces so they can be put onto floppy disks or sent by email or burnt onto CD-ROM. GigaSplit allows many different methods of splitting large files such as by Megabytes, Kilobytes, bytes, Disk Size, number of pieces or choose from a popular splitting size such as standard CD-ROM size or other disk sizes. The split up files have their own icon and can be double clicked to open the building dialog.

[screen shot] Build files- GigaSplit's next main feature is to build or put together files that have been split up. All you have to do is choose any one of the file that have been split up from a dialog box, choose a destination and click the Build Files button. Alternately you could double click on a split file and build files from there or you could run the batch file created by GigaSplit (filename.bat).

[screen shot] Allows Shell Integration - GigaSplit lets you easily split up or build any files on your hard drive by integrating itself into the windows shell. This means that you can right click on any file you want to split up and click 'Split this file(s) with GigaSplit' to automatically add the file or files chosen into the list and set the destination to the current folder. All you have to do is choose how you want to split the file and click the Split Files button. You can select multiple files from windows to split up or just a single file. GigaSplit also integrates a feature to enable you to automatically zip the selected files and add the zip file to the list of files to split so you can easily split files.

[screen shot] Zip File Compression - If there are multiple files needed to be split in one package, GigaSplit automatically creates a Zip file containing all the files and then splits this Zip file into pieces of a chosen size. GigaSplit uses Zip because of it's wide popularity throughout the internet so it is easy to extract the files later on. To extract the files an extraction program such as WinZip is required. This can be downloaded at www.winzip.com. And there are many free Zip File extraction programs available. You can also set GigaSplit to automatically Unzip if the built file is a zip file. GigaSplit also allows you to create self extracting archives. If you choose to create self extracting archives then you don't need a separate program to Unzip files. This option creates an exe file which can be run and used to Unzip into the chosen directory.

UnZip File Un compression - If the built file is a Zip file GigaSplit will attempt to UnZip or Extract the files contained within the archive. This will only happen if the option is set (see Tools -> Options).

Fast Optimized Splitting and Building - GigaSplit uses fast optimized splitting code to perform the split operation. It is able to split up files of unlimited size (larger files will take longer). You only need a minimum of 8 Mb of RAM to perform a splitting operation. The same also applies to Building files. Note that this is not third party code, this was especially designed for GigaSplit.

Options to Suit the User - GigaSplit gives you some great options to get the best performance out of GigaSplit so you can make GigaSplit suit your needs. For and example you can set the default destination directory for where you want the output folder to always be.
