The AccessAble Help Desk Suite © provides an easy to use Windows based application with an Access 97 database on the backend (ODBC Connection) combined with an Integrated Http Server to allow users and technicians the ability to add, update and search the database with jus their web browser. The final "office" in this "suite" is a small Pocket PC based application which allows you to synchronize data with your handheld device running Microsoft's Windows CE and ActiveSync.

The AccessAble Help Desk Special Edition © does not include the Pocket PC application but does include a dozen "themes" or styles to allow you to change the appearance of the program. It also added several fields to a different .mdb file on the backend. It was actually developed in response to email messages from several who tried the Suite but had some special requirements.

The special edition replaced the tree style menu with a simple tool bar and also includes the ability to apply color schemes to the data entry screens. Click the image for a larger view.

The new AccessAble Help Desk Professional Edition is quite different than either the Suite or Special Edition. The Web interface is provided as a set of Active Server Pages and requires Microsoft's PWS or IIS. Registered users will receive a CD containing the same pages as in the demo, but almost 30 additional styles to enable them to choose one they like best, or alternate them whenever they want. The visual design is separate from the database design, so after the html pages have been modified to include your company logo, etc, the Active Server Pages will reflect those changes.

When you download the demonstration version, you will receive only the ASP pages. The developers recommend you do not edit any of these pages with the exception of the Common.asp page. This page contains the database connection information. If you move the .mdb file to a location other than C:\Inetpub\wwwroot you will need to edit the common.asp page to reflect the new file location. When you register, you will receive html pages in addition to the Active Server Pages. These html pages can be edited with Microsoft Front Page or other HTML editing software and the changes will be reflected in the asp pages. These templates are used because they separate the page design from the database design. You or your web master will be able to edit the html files without changing the database connectivity.

AccessAble Help Desk Client Server Edition is a comprehensive IT Help Desk program with both an easy to use Windows based front end and a web based front end to the same database. The web pages are provided as both .asp (Active Server Pages) and .html templates. Microsoft IIS 5 is required to serve the web pages. The backend database uses Microsoft SQL Server and .sql scripts are provide to create the database tables. The site license price of $749 included unlimited users of both the windows and web applications.
